Welcome To Woods Of Wisdom

Thank you for taking the time to visit with us at the internet home of Woods of Wisdom. We are a small company of accomplished woodturning and woodcarving artists. Our passion for what we do is larger than planet earth.

From  the trees we harvest and within the peaceful setting of our studio, we create one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted bowls, wooden urns,  and lidded / unlidded vessels. Each are often adorned with hand carved beads, petals or other carvings. On the bottom side,  you will find a hand carved flower, none of which are alike, and the signature of the artist.  The design and labor of the hand carved flower is our  surprise and gift to you.

“There is nothing inherently wrong with imperfextion.”

With this in mind, we are artistically inspired by the natural occurrence of knots, holes, cracks,  grain change, color variations and other unique characteristics of each species of tree. As we carefully turn and shape each individual piece, placement of these imperfections often dictate the shape.

Orchestrating this in an eye pleasing manner is a very old art that requires a great deal of patience and skill. We take pride in the process of discovering what each piece of wood will reveal and the intimacy of making each bowl, vessel and urn. Somehow we never seem to tire of the excitement.

We truly believe that each piece is unique and made for a specific person. Our greatest pleasure is witnessing the chance meeting between art and the intended owner. It doesn’t get any better…

In our studio, a sign remains posted for all to read and for us to reflect upon:

God’s Gifts

He who toils with his hands is a Laborer…
He who uses his hands and his mind is a Craftsman…
He who uses his hands and his mind with all his heart

…is an Artist
